Save $119,600 Per Year for Each Sales Rep with This Tactic

Time is money. Each minute that we waste on ineffective manual tasks, a potential sale could be quietly slipping away. Discover how leading window furnishing companies have used SMS automation to increase revenue.

The Key to Reducing No-Shows Starts with this Trick

Have you ever stopped to calculate how much money your business loses each year as a result of no-shows? If not, we don’t blame you – it can be daunting. But knowledge is power and knowing exactly what you’re missing out on could help you conquer the no-show problem in your business. Let’s take a look at why no-shows happen and the steps that will move you in the right direction to nix no-shows, once and for all.

So, what are no-shows really costing you?

According to 10to8, the average no-show rate is between 10 and 15 per cent. Over time, this many missed appointments can inevitably have a direct correlation to your bottom line. Other potential impacts include loss of business productivity, downtime and slower business growth.

To calculate the baseline cost of missed appointments for your business, here is a simple formula that we used based on analysing 100 window furnishing companies.

1. The average value of a single appointment in the window furnishing industry is $2300

2. We came to this number by adding all the sales from confirmed orders linked to the appointments over a 52-week period, then dividing that by that number of confirmed appointments to get an average order size

3. Then, we measured the number of appointments a full-time sales consultant usually achieves per week which is 20 appointments per week (*46 weeks per year, taking into account annual leave and public holidays. This number is based on an average of four appointments per day) to get an average order size

4. The total number of appointments per sales consultant per year averaged at 920 appointments (four appointments per day x 5 days a week x 46 weeks a year).

5. 10% of those appointments are no-shows which results in a loss of 92 appointments.

6. Of those 92 no-show appointments, the industry average of customer proceeding with the quote is 57% so total sales forfeited is 52 per year (57% x 92).

According to our calculations, each sales representative will lose $119,600 per year in total revenue (52 * $2300 = $119,600).

SMS is often more direct than a push notification from a mobile app. If you target and personalize your messages, it will increase the likelihood of grabbing the attention of your customer even further.

How does it work?

For appointment reminders to work well, automation is necessary.

You can send a reminder text in three ways

1. Manual text message prompt

Send a manual text message the day prior to remind your client they have an appointment. This is time-consuming but less time-consuming than calling each customer.

2. External appointment reminder app

You can also use an external appointment reminder app, but this is another unnecessary and convoluted process that is difficult to track and manage.

3. Customer relationship management system

The best option is to use a solution software like Insyte Web to automate the reminder process on your behalf, sending timely, personalized SMS appointment reminders to your customers at scale.

Once the appointment is booked, you can “set and forget” automated reminders that reduce no-shows and drive customer retention. Choose from 24- or 48-hour timing options to reduce costly no-shows and decrease the time spent on manual follow-ups and reminder calls.
